Brynn was born last Tuesday at 11:22pm. I can't believe it's already been a week since we first laid our eyes on her!! I also can't believe that I haven't had time to post a blog since Sunday... and that's with my mom being here to help us out too!!
It's been a busy week! Since I posted last, we've had lots of "firsts" including:
Her first bath!
Her first pediatrician appointment!
The bath was pretty interesting, we have LOTS of pictures of it!! Chad and I had to make it a team effort and it was still a challenge... she was slipping and sliding all over the place. On our way from the bathtub to the changing table, she POOPED in her bathrobe! Apparently we scared the shit out of her!! Ha ha...
She wasn't a big fan of the pediatrician or his assistant... they were poking and prodding her and she just wasn't a happy camper!! She has lost a little bit of weight and she shrank too!! When she was born, she was 7lbs, 5oz and was 20 1/4" long. As of the appointment on Monday, she was 6lbs, 8oz and was 19 3/4" long. The doctor said that weight loss was normal but she lost a little more than what he would like to see, so we have to take her back in this afternoon to get re-weighed. Not a big deal, since the appointment, she's been eating like crazy so I'm sure she's atleast gained a little back. PLUS, I have to take her to get her blood drawn again today (it's normal, you have to do it within 7-10 days of her being born), so Brynn's not going to be very happy with me. I'm sure I'll cry or atleast get all teary eyed for that appointment.
Everything is still going great, yesterday my mom and I took her out to a few different places because we had some running around to do and she slept the whole time! Since the doctor had been concerned about her weight, he said to wake her up and feed her in the middle of the night so we had been doing that, except for the night before last night to see what would happen. She fell asleep around 9:30pm, got up twice, and by 1:00am she was down for the count. She slept until 7:15!! YAY!! Last night was a different story. I had my first emotional breakdown. 8 days after she was born. I think that's pretty good actually. I was exhausted and I couldn't calm her down, I fed her about a bazillion times and she had her POOPing problem again... I'm sure it's normal and for her to only have an issue once a night is pretty good but I had been so used to her cooperating, it threw me off and I wasn't ready for it. Plus, I had this knot in my back that was killing me and it even hurt to breathe. Finally after about two hours of Chad and I attempting to settle her down and nothing working, I broke down and woke Grammie up out of a dead sleep!! I had already bawled my eyes out and couldn't come up with anything that would work and that was my last resort. Within about a 1/2 hour, Brynn was asleep and slept until 6:15am, with a little bit of stirring in between.
Chad went back to work yesterday, I was bummed... and still am! I really didn't want him to go back to work. Brynn mostly just ate and slept today so I was pretty lucky and was able to do a few things done.
Also, I just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who has sent us cards or flowers throughout the week, it made the house look all nice and cheery!!
I will try and post on here as often as I can but I'm on Brynn's schedule now!!
